Do you want to learn
There are no special requirements to help out in this project. There is a chance you may learn something you didn’t know before or teach somebody something they didn’t know. This project is about social and enjoyable learning. We enjoy answering questions and helping folk to find out what it is they want to know – and just as much we want to listen to what they have to say. Sharing skills is part of building a common good.
Learning and teaching drawing
Drawing is the first language we learn and in to many cases a language that isn’t carried on to adulthood. There is no such thing as “I can’t draw” it is an impossibility. We all start off drawing freely. The belief in “I cant draw” is usually the fault of bad advice rather than peoples ability to express themselves with pen and paper. Some folk are not comfortable with the written word and drawing offers a powerful option for expressing ideas.
Writing
Helping and teaching people to write and be better writers helps also to encourage folk to work in groups and find out each others strengths for working with each other on defined projects – such as this one.
Education
The common good is a tool of education and incorporates much of the curriculum subject matter. Question should be – Why isn’t it on the curriculum? Part of the work of this project will be to make the connections to the concept of the CG of history, geography, politics, economics, culture, science, ecology, values and many of the subjects deemed important in “preparing young citizens for a useful and fulfilling role in society”.
